From January 1, 2026, the digital ruble can be used for transfers to budgets and transfers to federal institutions. From July 1, 2027, operations with it will become possible with regional and local budgets, as well as with extra-budgetary funds and recipients of funds.
All payments from the budget in digital rubles will be made only at the request of the recipients. Only the citizen himself will be able to open an account in them, the department noted.
Earlier, the head of the Russian Treasury, Roman Artyukhin, at a meeting with Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, said that the department was ready to start accepting budget payments in digital rubles from January 1, 2026.
