President Donald Trump posted a chart on social media Thursday evening containing data from the December employment report ahead of its official release.
The chart, published by Truth Social, showed that the private sector had added 654,000 jobs "since January"—this information matches data that wasn't released until 4:30 PM on Friday. Trump's post appeared approximately 12 hours before the report's scheduled release.
Presidents typically receive a briefing on employment data the day before its public release. The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment about the early release of the information.
Bloomberg News was first to report Trump's early release of economic data.
