Israeli law enforcement has arrested and charged two individuals with using classified information on the Polymarket prediction market.
The individuals involved were bets related to an Israeli strike on Iran.
In a joint statement released Thursday, the Israeli Ministry of Defense, the Shin Bet internal security service, and the police announced that a military reservist and a civilian were arrested after an investigation revealed that the reservist had obtained classified information to profit from the prediction market.
As happy Coin News has learned, in June 2025, Polymarket user "ricosuave666" placed several bets related to Israeli military operations in Iran, but it is unknown whether those arrested were affiliated with this account.
This account placed tens of thousands of dollars in bets, winning over $152,300. The bets included bets on events such as "an Israeli strike on Iran on June 24" and "Israeli military action against Iran by Friday." The player earned over $128,700 in the most recent event.
The Israeli Ministry of Defense stated that bets based on classified information posed a "real security threat to the operations of the Israel Defense Forces and the country as a whole." However, the reservist's lawyer stated that the charge of harming national security had been dropped.
