California Governor Gavin Newsom said Wednesday that state officials are aware of the potential threat of drone strikes,
following reports that the FBI had warned of possible Iranian attack drones targeting the West Coast.
"Regarding drone strikes, we were aware of that information," Newsom said at a press conference. "We worked collaboratively" through the state's operations center.
The governor added that "drone issues have always been a top priority, and we've created several task forces specifically to address those concerns."
ABC News reported that the FBI warned police departments in California that Iran intended to retaliate for the attacks by launching drones on the West Coast.
