Donald Trump stated that the United States could unblock the Strait of Hormuz if given "a little more time."
This statement comes amid growing domestic and international pressure on the White House administration to end the war with Iran as quickly as possible, Reuters reports.
"Given a little more time, we can easily OPEN THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ, TAKE THE OIL, AND MAKE A FORTUNE," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Despite promises of a quick victory, the American president's rhetoric remains harsh. Addressing the nation on Wednesday evening, Trump offered no clear timeline for a cessation of hostilities and reiterated threats to destroy Iran's civilian power plants. These statements provoked retaliatory threats from Tehran and led to another decline in global stock markets.
