Anthropic is in talks with the Trump administration regarding its advanced artificial intelligence model Mythos
company co-founder Jack Clark announced Monday. The talks come after the Pentagon terminated its partnership with the AI company last month following a contract dispute.
In March, the Pentagon deemed Anthropic a supply chain risk, banning its use by the agency and its contractors. The dispute stemmed from disagreements over restrictions on the military use of Anthropic's AI tools.
"We have a narrow contractual dispute, but I don't want that to obscure the fact that we care deeply about national security," Clark said at the Semafor World Economy event in Washington. "Our position is that the government needs to be aware of this... So, of course, we're talking to them about Mythos, and we'll be talking to them about future models."
The specific agencies involved in the talks and the nature of the discussions remain unclear.
Anthropic announced Mythos 07.04, describing it as the company's most powerful model for coding and agent-based tasks.
