Digital asset infrastructure provider Taurus and secure hosting company MPCH have agreed
to create a US-based infrastructure for institutional cryptocurrency custody, Investing.com has learned.
The collaboration involves the creation of a dedicated deployment environment for Taurus based at MPCH's highly secure facilities in the US.
As part of the agreement, MPCH will provide a dedicated secure area equipped with its own secure infrastructure and managed infrastructure services for Taurus's hardware security module (HSM)-based storage platform.
Taurus is expected to retain control over the HSM technology and cryptographic operations, while gaining the option of physical deployment in the US for clients with appropriate infrastructure requirements.
The company expects the planned deployment to be in demand by banks, custodians, exchanges, enterprises, and government agencies seeking US-based digital asset infrastructure, taking into account requirements for data localization, operational resilience, and infrastructure sovereignty.
"Financial institutions require the flexibility to deploy digital asset infrastructure that meets their specific security, resilience, and regulatory requirements," said Milena Kohlhofer, Director of Strategic Partnerships at Taurus.
The companies also highlight the importance of post-quantum cryptography.
Level-1 HSMs are capable of supporting certain post-quantum digital signature algorithms in a secure hardware environment, with the appropriate firmware and certification. This allows institutions to test new cryptographic methods without completely replacing their existing storage architecture.
"Institutional adoption of digital assets continues to accelerate, but success depends on more than just storage and technology," noted Miles Parry, CEO of MPCH. "Organizations also require a robust infrastructure that meets their security, operational, and regulatory requirements."
The deployment is expected to include geographically distributed disaster recovery, enterprise-grade physical security, and a fault-tolerant network architecture.
Deployment timelines and service availability are not being disclosed.
