President Donald Trump declared on Wednesday that the United States has full control of the Strait of Hormuz and intends to maintain it.
Trump made the announcement on his platform, Truth Social, calling the US naval blockade what everyone calls a "STEEL WALL."
The president claimed Iran is incapable of countering the American presence, citing what he described as Iran's lack of naval and air power. Trump also noted that Iran's remaining soldiers are not receiving pay, the IRGC has been routed and is fleeing, and the country's leadership is at a loss.
"They have no money—their country is 'ruined,'" Trump wrote. He added that Iran is plagued by fake news and 300% inflation, which continues to worsen. Trump described Iran as a country that "talks a lot but does nothing" and said it was no longer the bully of the Middle East.
