A US lawmaker is attempting to ban US President Donald Trump, his family, and all members of Congress from trading cryptocurrency and stocks.

This initiative was proposed by Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna, who represents California's 17th Congressional District and is the vice chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. He also stated that he is concerned about Trump's apparent conflict of interest in cryptocurrency due to his ties to the World Liberty Financial (WLFI) project and the recent pardon of Changpeng Zhao.

"You have a foreign billionaire who was essentially engaged in money laundering. And then he petitioned Donald Trump for a pardon after effectively transferring funds to terrorists," Khanna said of Zhao.

The congressman claimed that the Binance co-founder escaped punishment thanks to Binance's financial support for the WLFI project.

Trump has indeed been repeatedly criticized for his ties to WLFI, but his son Eric Trump has consistently denied any involvement. In a September interview, he emphasized that his father "runs the country. He is in no way involved in our business."

The question of whether government employees should be allowed to invest in areas like the stock market has long been a source of heated debate among American lawmakers. Currently, debate continues in the US over a bipartisan stock trading bill in Congress, which is expected to be voted on soon.
