The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has concluded its investigation into the DeFi protocol Aave, ending a nearly four-year process, according to the project's founder, Stani Kuleshov.
He added that the US regulator will not take enforcement action against the protocol.
In a social media post, Aave founder Stani Kuleshov confirmed that the SEC's investigation, which began around 2021 or early 2022, has concluded. The regulator does not plan to recommend any enforcement action against the protocol.
DeFi has been subject to unfair regulatory pressure in recent years. We are glad that this is a thing of the past, as we are entering a new era where developers can truly shape the future of finance, Kuleshov wrote. Now that all regulatory hurdles have been cleared, Aave is developing a comprehensive plan for 2026 to expand the reach of its lending protocol and unify real-world assets on its DeFi platform. This plan sets an ambitious goal of attracting $1 billion in real-world asset deposits.
