Iran and Cuba condemned the US attack on Venezuela, calling it a violation of sovereignty and calling for an international response.
Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel described the attack as a "criminal US attack on Venezuela" and called on the international community to respond. A close ally of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, Díaz-Canel stated that the operation amounted to "state terrorism against the brave Venezuelan people and against Our America."
In a post on X (formerly Twitter, blocked in Russia), he wrote that "our #PeaceZone is being brutally attacked," referring to the 2014 declaration signed in Havana, which declared Latin America and the Caribbean a Zone of Peace.
Iran also criticized the US strikes on Caracas, calling them a "gross violation of the country's national sovereignty and territorial integrity." These comments came shortly after President Donald Trump promised to intervene in the protests that have rocked Iran's leadership in recent days.
Iran has warned that it will respond swiftly to any aggression against its interests. Officials have repeatedly stated that the country could strike US military bases in the Middle East if attacked.
