The Central Bank of Georgia raised its key refinancing rate to 8.25% from 8% on Wednesday, the bank said in a statement.
The bank attributed the rate hike to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and ongoing shipping disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz, which are creating supply-side inflationary pressure in the global economy.
