The launch of the service took place after the bank committed to comply with the requirements of the law on the regulation of cryptocurrencies in the European Union (MiCA), assured Monteverde.
Coty de Monteverde, head of the cryptocurrency department at Grupo Santander, said that the bank is going to charge a 1.49% commission for transactions with a minimum amount of 1 euro (about $1.18), and there is no commission for storing crypto assets.
The launch of the service took place after the bank committed to comply with the requirements of the law on the regulation of cryptocurrencies in the European Union (MiCA), assured Monteverde. In the coming months, Openbank intends to add support for other crypto assets, and in a few weeks expand the range of services for customers from Spain. It is also planned to introduce new functions, in particular, the conversion of cryptocurrencies.
"We have added leading crypto assets to the list of services to meet customer needs and diversify the products of our technology platform, supported by one of the world's leading financial groups," said the head of the cryptocurrency department.
In 2022, Santander Bank set a limit on cryptocurrency transactions for British customers, explaining the desire to protect against fraud with digital assets. Later, Santander management promised to launch a cryptocurrency trading service for clients from Brazil.
