Brazil’s Ministry of Planning announced on Monday
that the budgetary adjustments required for the measures recently unveiled by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will amount to approximately 20 billion reais ($3.95 billion) in the 2027 budget. The president is seeking reelection in the vote taking place next Sunday.
According to the ministry, this figure represents just over 1% of the total primary expenditures subject to the limits established by Brazil’s fiscal rule. The ministry stated that these adjustments will be implemented while maintaining both the overall spending cap and the government’s primary budget target.
