The first participants in Visa's stablecoin settlement system are Cross River Bank and Lead Bank, which already conduct similar transactions on the Solana blockchain ecosystem
The payment processor plans to roll out the service more widely in the United States in 2026.
Visa stated that the settlement scheme offered to its partners is available nationwide and is available 24/7, including holidays and weekends. Currently, retail clients do not have direct access to USDC stablecoin settlements. However, if Cross River Bank, Lead Bank, or other partner banks implement related retail products, Visa promises accelerated transaction processing speeds and lower transaction costs.
Earlier, Visa CEO Ryan McInerney announced that his company is testing a stablecoin settlement system through the Visa Direct service and is using the Visa Tokenized Asset platform to develop "new types of programmable finance." McInerney said that since the program's launch, the international company has processed more than $200 million in stablecoin transactions.
